In what would be a competitive game through out, Empire State fought hard to hold off LIC for a half time lead of 38-37. Early in the 3rd LIC would take a small lead that Empire would take back not long after. Empire’s experience would prove to be to much as they pulled away in the fourth for the 86-73 win. Empire State’s Nate Young (25 points,12 rebounds) would led all scorers but it would be the two rookies Tyrone Codjoe (13 points,6 rebounds,6 assist, 4 steals) and Bilal Braktia (18 points,6 rebounds, 2 assist) who would steal the show. Their energy would breathe life into the offense and defense at much needed times. LIC were highlighted by players Brian “Blyte” Payne (23 points, 5 rebounds ) and Stan Hamp (13 points).
